Purpose:
The Community Education Inclusion Specialist will support children with diverse abilities and needs within Community Education programs (Early Education & Compass, School Age Childcare), ensuring every child receives individualized care, resources, and support in an inclusive, welcoming environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inclusion Planning and Staff Training: Develop individualized inclusion plans for children and provide training for staff to ensure effective implementation and support.
- Inclusive Environment Development: Collaborate with staff to create activities and environments that are inclusive and welcoming for children of all abilities.
- Advocacy and Support: Act as a resource and advocate for children, parents, and staff, actively promoting an inclusive approach within the program.
- Instruction and Awareness: Deliver lessons to both large and small groups on cultural acceptance, social-emotional development, differing abilities, and linguistic awareness.
- Accommodations and Modifications: Make necessary adjustments to curriculum, lessons, and learning environments to meet the needs of all children.
- Ongoing Staff Development: Provide continuous training and support to staff on strategies for working effectively with children who have unique challenges and abilities.
Qualifications:
- Relevant certifications such as BCBA, RBT, LSW, LPC, LMHC, LCPC, or a teaching license, with proven experience in educational or similar settings.
- Extensive training and experience in data collection, Conscious Discipline, Teacher-Child Interaction Therapy (TCIT), mental health practices, child development, and/or Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) are preferred.
