Alexandria Public Schools Community Education offers a wide variety of youth and adult programs throughout the year. Community Education is looking for creative, energetic, and personable people who have a passion for families and have outstanding customer service skills to join our dynamic team.
Compass is Alexandria Community Education’s school-age care program, providing before- and after-school, non-school day and summer care for students PreK-5th Grade. The program is located in all elementary schools and the Early Education Center.
Essential Functions:
- Provide participants and Compass team with the appropriate leadership
- Support planning activities that incorporate program goals into the daily routine.
- Provide a warm and caring atmosphere for participants and colleagues.
- Maintain a safe environment for participants.
- Attend staff meetings.
- Communicate with parents through daily drop off and pick up and/or during parent meetings
- Provide behavior support for students
- Apply their unique skillset to assist with the development and implementation of Behavioral Intervention Plans.
- Help students develop social skills and eliminate or reduce negative or disruptive behaviors
Qualifications:
- Must have previous experience working with PreK-5th Grade students.
- Previous leadership experience
- Be a self starter and perform job with little supervision.
- Must be able to handle any questions that arise with students, colleagues and/or parents
- Minimum 18 years old
Preferred post secondary education
Hours: Monday-Friday 2:00pm-5:30pm/2-3 days per week
